Electromet Supports Lockheed Martin on the Trident Submarine Navigation and Targeting System

Electromet ruggedized electronic cabinets

The GMA NAVAIDS and GMA Frequency Convertor program provides a technology upgrade to the existing fleet of Ohio-Class Sub-Surface Ballistic Missile Nuclear (SSBN) submarines that carry the Trident D-5 Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM’s). This modernization program will provide enhanced and more fully integrated navigation, synchronization and targeting capabilities to the U.S. Navy’s existing fleet of ballistic missile submarines.

Electromet supports this program by providing ruggedized electronic cabinets that contain and protect these vital systems. Initial deliveries began in May 2014. Supporting this program was extremely challenging as it required Electromet to accommodate legacy systems & designs while supporting modern electronics and doing so on a very tight budget and an even tighter delivery schedule. Electromet expects to continue deliveries through 2014 and 2015 until all existing SSBN’s receive the technology upgrade.
