In June 2017, Electromet enhanced its precision measuring capability by installing a Wenzel Precision GmbH Xorbit 107 Coordinate Measuring Machine in its Hagerstown, MD machining facility.
This CMM can support an envelope of 1,000 mm (39.37 inches) x 2,000 mm (78.74 inches) x 700 mm (27.56 inches) and gives Electromet a significant capability boost. The extremely large envelope of the Xorbit 107 allows Electromet to perform in-house dimensional verification on much larger structures at a reduced cost.
Adding the Xorbit 107 is both a capability and capacity enhancement. Electromet is on target to increase total manufacturing capacity by 30% in 2017 and the addition of the Xorbit 107 is an important part of this plan to support the continued growth of Electromet’s defense business.
