The ICADS2 program is under the direction of NIWC (Navy Information Warfare Center) Atlantic and is derived from the original ICADS program.
The ICADS program is designed as a modular, deployable extension of the Navy’s existing Digital Modular Radio (DMR) program, designed to outfit modular ISO shelters as self-contained, stand-alone, deployable DMR suites.
The ICADS2 scope has broadened to seek a limited, back-up communications capability, that can be deployed on most surface combatants. Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) Charleston is the primary contractor, and Electromet began providing electronic enclosures in August 2020.
