The U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System Carrier Demonstration (UCAS-D) Program is an effort to explore the future of unmanned carrier aviation and set the stage for the development of a more permanent, carrier-based fleet of unmanned aircraft. Centered on the X-47B aircraft, the UCAS-D program will develop and demonstrate a capability to launch and recover an autonomous, low-observable-relevant unmanned aircraft. It will also mature carrier landing integration technologies and demonstrate autonomous aerial refueling.
The Electromet Corporation was selected by NAVAIR/BAE and SAIC to provide rugged, integrated, electronic cabinets in support of the UCAS-D development. Initial cabinet deliveries were completed in September 2012.
