The U.S. Navy’s Aegis Ashore program is the land-based component of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMD). It leverages the present and future Aegis BMD capabilities to adapt to the evolving ballistic missile security environment. Deploying land-based BMD capabilities through the deployable Aegis Ashore program will compliment the sea-based deployment of Aegis BMD capabilities.
