Raytheon has pioneered the way combat systems are deployed through the use of an Electronic Equipment Module (EME). The modules encapsulate equipment in standard shelters designed to withstand the rigors of combat such as shock and vibration. They also incorporate acoustic dampeners to reduce noise transmission to reduce detection and protect against Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). The EME concept also makes it easier to use commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment and streamlines combat system installation, integration and testing.
A key element of the EME’s versatility is the use of standardized Common Electronic Cabinets which can be easily reconfigured and allow different EME’s to be scaled up or down to fit the application, all without significant redesign.
The Electromet Corporation has been selected to provide EME common cabinets to support the EME program going forward. Initial deliveries of electronic cabinets will begin in 2012 and are expected to continue well into the future.
